Kindermusik Family Time
is a class designed for families with one or more children ages newborn and up, who want to participate in an activity together.  You’ll play instruments, dance, explore and make discoveries, share and take turns, and see how music can bring you closer as a family.

With older children ready to show the little ones how it’s done and the younger ones eager to learn, Family Time becomes a multi-layered learning environment for learning musical concepts and developing musical skills.  In this special place, your children will strengthen their ties with each other and with you.

Hickory, Dickory, Tickle, and Bounce
Research shows the more you expose your baby to nursery rhymes and songs, the stronger those emerging language-learning skills will be. That's why these Mother Goose-like stories and rhymes are the main theme of this class. Plus, you'll develop research-proven communication strategies with your child through listening activities, speaking "parentese," and sign language.

Home Materials:
CD of beautifully arranged nursery rhyme and songs from class, a rhyming picture board book—Hickory, Dickory, Tickle, and Bounce, a set of Art Banners, and an instrument for music-making at home.

The Rhythm of My Day
This class will help you bring more rhythm and routine to your baby's day, as well as help develop lasting learning skills. We'll show you how and tell you why music can help your little one soothe into the day’s schedule and help build a strong body and mind network for learning. You can bring home those same stress-free play and relaxation techniques from class, and incorporate them into your daily routines.

Home Materials: CD of beautifully arranged songs from class, The Rhythm of My Day—a colorful picture board book with class themes, a set of Art Banners, and an instrument for music-making at home.

Fiddle-dee-dee
We'll meet many animal characters in our books, activities, and songs—each specifically chosen for a toddler's emerging interests and physical skills. With silly, bumpy lap bounces we'll help toddlers develop rhythm while further developing their ever-emerging language skills. With a special stringed instrument emphasis in the music from class, parents can bring home the violin, cello, and orchestra sounds to help their toddlers stay happy and engaged learners at home, too.

Fiddle dee dee Home Materials: Double CD featuring songs from class; two interactive storybooks—This Little Piggy Played the Fiddle and Animal Serenade to develop early literacy skills; Home Activity Book, and a pair of Fiddlestick instruments.

Cities!
People on the go, rushing everywhere — in the city!” Meet the Busy Places and Friendly Faces of Cities! — the Imagine That! unit where we will co-create a city that’s familiar, yet like no other. And a city that’s really many “cities” in one. There’s a city of music, of songs, recorded works, and city sounds. There’s a city of the imagination — of three- and four-and five-year-olds being whoever they imagine themselves to be today: a broom man, or maybe an opera singer? There’s a city of stories — of lost dogs and found dogs and of a globe-trotting photographer. Best of all, in Cities! children from all kinds of communities will find commonalities with their lives. So join us as we set off on yet another grand, musical adventure!

Home Materials: Two Home CDs, Cities! Game Board and 4 Card Sets, Home Family Activity Book, Two Literature Books and Backpack (New Students Only)

Semester Three
We will be building on the concepts introduced in Young Child 2: rhythmic accuracy, musical terminology, pitch notation, auditory discrimination, solo-singing, ensemble playing, and discovering and strengthening the “head” singing voice. We will also write, move to and sing music in 3/4 and 4/4 meter. Your child will add 5 new rhythm symbols this semester to the 3 they currently know and they will learn 2 more notes: b1, d1, making it “7.” Now that your child knows and can identify instruments from each family of the orchestra, they will be introduced to their first stringed instrument: the dulcimer! This pre-violin instrument will prepare your child for later violin instruction, and what better way than through the study of Appalachian Mountain music! Aural, reading and writing skills will increase as your child further develops his/her glockenspiel aptitude while becoming proficient in music notation. This semester brings you one-step closer to having your child perfectly prepared for success in private piano, violin or guitar
